I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1982 after completing an Honours degree in Land Management at University of Reading (1977-1980), and a spell in the then Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. I was Associate Partner in the well known local Derbyshire practice of Warwick and Co in the late 1980’s, prior to a period as a commercial surveyor in the corporate sector.
I have 30 years experience surveying residential properties in the Midlands and have been the principal local surveyor providing advice to homebuyers in and around Lichfield as Whitfield & Associates since 1992. I am pleased to be recommended to their clients by many local solicitors who value integrity and independence. As such I have been privileged to receive many repeat instructions from clients and their families over the years. As one local Chartered Surveyor and estate agent put it:
“The trouble with you Ian, you tell it like it is”
I carry out Building Surveys and RICS Homebuyer Reports for house purchasers, as well as valuations for private and institutional clients. As a fully independent surveyor my reports are often able to assist clients in the negotiation of price reduction if defects are found to exist, or if the value of the property following survey is found lower than the agreed price.
As an RICS Registered Valuer I adhere to the exhaustive professional standards established and monitored by the RICS.
